Entropy 12/03/12

Well ladies and gents, I’ve been doing a weekly, hour-long radio show here in Istanbul on the esteemed Lounge FM at 96.0. Seeing as how my international comrades would have a tough time catching the show on air or online, and how most of my domestic buddies don’t have fm radios anymore, I thought it would be fitting to share my radio shows here through soundcloud, a little while after they air for exclusivity purposes. Lounge 96 already delivers music to its audience on a very wide array and at a highly eclectic and sophisticated scale so it was a natural fit for me. Assuming you’ve gotten to know my taste a little bit, Entropy is far from a ‘hits of the day’ show, the show spans a wide time range drawing inspiration anywhere from the 40s and 50s to today. So far there’s been maybe three or four songs that appeared more than once and it’s become my primary outlet for sharing my taste in music with the audience. This post will also serve as an introduction to the series and I will not be including anything but possible tracklistings for the sets after this one. I hope you all enjoy Entropy and come back for more as it will be the most frequently posted material on my site from now on, considering the fact that I do the show on a weekly basis.

If you would care to listen to the show live on air, it goes on at midnight Turkey time every Monday and can be reached at www.loungefm.net through the player at the bottom left or Istanbul locals can simply tune in to 96.0 on their radios.

I also created a separate page up top called Entropy that will take you straight to a compilation of the Radio Shows.

Enjoy & Share

Radio Oxigen

Radio Oxigen

Well hello there..Yes, yes, yes I know I’ve been absent. However it was all for what I believe to be an excellent cause. Now that I’m living back in the motherland (Istanbul) I’ve found myself a pretty sweet gig at a company that runs two very well known radio stations on the airwaves. It’s damn cool, here is the kicker though: they gave me an iconic radio brand named Radio Oxigen from the 90s to run online and do with it as my heart pleases. Those who know me will know that my eclectic style would have always felt cramped in a genre-narrow radio environment so this opportunity was a blessing since I got to infuse this radio with as much of my expansive music personality as I could. It features a rare and extensive array of music ranging from funk to disco to jazz to soul and on and on. I’m not one to push ads down anyone’s throats facebook style, however in this case it is fitting.

The radio’s style and sound is as influenced by my taste in music as this web page is thus making you, my fellow readers, the prime clientele to reap the benefits of Radio Oxigen. Not only will you get to hear some of the gems from here over there but imagine that plus 3 months of effort compiling me and my friends’ music into one shrine of a radio. Don’t be mistaken, this is no itunes playlist running on and on. It  runs on some of the most respected and professional radio software out there and the design of the musical flow is as much mathematical as it is spiritual. Now the only two kinks for my international readership is that the radio is still a Turkish establishment so as it progresses chances are there will be some Turkish ad airtime on there and secondly the time gap from Istanbul to you will be significant as you might have a tougher time catching the radio in the right vibe of the moment depending on what time of the day it is for you vs here.

Having said these, I urge and ask all of you to please give Radio Oxigen a chance and let me know what you honestly think. While listenership may not rival a true FM station, domestically speaking, I believe that this radio has the potential to become an international brand as it grows if given the right amount of love and attention and I’m asking (first time ever mind you) for your help in spreading the word and spreading the love. Oh yea, and enjoy of course because the jams on there are pretty outrageous.

Last but not least I’m putting the Radio Oxigen Mixtape from soundcloud on here. It is definitely an upbeat set, meant for the more heated hours of the radio (aka evening time, weekends) but it is delicious nonetheless and features some tracks that I’m pretty sure you all will like plenty.

Nothing New Vol. 1

Art – Alex Prager

Considering the fact that the word dj appears in the title of my page, I’ve posted very few mixes for you to enjoy. Well, I’m looking to change that now and subsequently launching a new mix series I’m going to be doing called Nothing New here on Audioholic. The irony is inherent in the title, since I’ll be trying to appeal to you all with rare (or for those in the know, lesser known) tracks in an hourly mix format. They’ll range anywhere from downtempo all the way to eclectic dancefloor jams. They will also be ready for you to download, meaning you can take my mixes on the road (or anywhere else) with you. Today’s first edition hails from the golden mid-range of 110 BPM taking you up to 120. You may be lounging on your couch, sipping on some tasty brews when you start listening to this mix but chances are you’ll be on your feet dancing by the time it’s done.

Enjoy and show some love.
